Trying on a New Thought
You don’t have to believe every thought you think—you can choose which ones you wear.
We all have favorite clothes.
The ones we feel confident in. Comfortable in. The ones we go back to again and again.
And we all have the opposite too…
The ones we try on and immediately think:
👉 “Nope… not this one.”
So we take it off and move on.
Simple.
But what if you treated your thoughts the same way?
The Thoughts You’re Wearing
Every day, thoughts run through your mind like a constant stream.
Some build you up:
“I can do this”
“I’m learning”
“This will work out”
Others tear you down:
“I’m not good enough”
“I’ll never figure this out”
“I’ve failed”
And here’s the problem…
👉 Most of us don’t question them.
We just wear them.
What If They’re Not True?
A lot of the thoughts we carry aren’t actually true.
They’re:
Fear-based
Worst-case scenarios
Old beliefs
Or just noise from a mind trying to “protect” us
But protection can sometimes become limitation.
If we believed every fearful thought we had…
We’d never take a step forward.
Learning to Step Back
There’s a powerful practice called mindfulness.
It teaches you to separate yourself from your thoughts.
To observe them.
To examine them.
To decide:
👉 Do I want to wear this?
Because a thought is just a thought.
Not your identity.
The Power of Replacing, Not Just Removing
It’s not enough to just reject a negative thought.
You need to replace it.
For example:
Instead of:
👉 “I failed, I’m not smart”
Try:
👉 “I didn’t get it this time—but I can learn and improve”
That shift changes everything.
Not because it ignores reality…
But because it aligns with truth.
Truth Feels Different
Here’s something you’ll notice:
👉 Truth feels different than fear.
Fear feels heavy.
Tight.
Limiting.
Truth feels:
Grounded
Calm
Expansive
When you find a thought that feels right…
Keep it.
Wear it often.
Make it part of your mindset.
Anchoring Quote
“Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.” — Doctrine and Covenants (6:36)
Practical Reflection
Pay attention to your thoughts today.
Especially the ones that:
Bring you down
Create fear
Make you feel small
Ask yourself:
👉 Is this actually true?
And if not…
👉 What is a better, more truthful thought I can choose instead?
Today’s Daily Challenge
Today, practice thought conversion:
Notice a negative thought
Pause and examine it
Challenge whether it’s true
Replace it with something better
Do this even once…
And you’ll start to take back control.
Closing
You don’t have to be controlled by your thoughts.
You can choose them.
You can change them.
You can replace them.
So today…
Choose thoughts that lift you.
That strengthen you.
That reflect truth.
And wear them well.
