The Closest Thing to Heaven on Earth

If you want to understand Christ’s love… look at a mother.

The Piece of Pie

There’s a quote that says:

A mother is someone who, when there are only four pieces of pie for five people, quietly says she never really cared for pie anyway.

And if you’ve lived it… you know it’s true.

No announcement.
No recognition.
Just quiet sacrifice.

It’s one of those small, almost invisible moments…
that actually reveals something incredibly powerful.

Because moments like that aren’t just kindness.

They’re a glimpse of heaven.

Seeing Christ in What’s Right in Front of You

We often think we need something big to feel close to God.

A powerful experience.
A spiritual moment.
A life-changing event.

But what if He’s been showing you who He is… all along?

As taught in scripture, “all things are created and made to bear record” of Him

Not just the mountains.
Not just the miracles.

But the everyday.

The quiet.
The unnoticed.
The ordinary.

And maybe one of the clearest reflections of Christ…
has been right in front of you your entire life.

The Greatest Symbol of Christ’s Love

Of all the things in this world that teach us about Christ…

There may be nothing more powerful than a mother.

Not because she’s perfect.
But because of what she does—over and over again.

  • She feeds

  • She cleans

  • She fixes

  • She comforts

  • She finds what’s lost

  • She reminds

  • She believes

Sound familiar?

That’s exactly what Jesus Christ does.

A Love That Keeps Showing Up

Think about it.

A mother feeds her family—sometimes with very little—and somehow makes it enough.

Christ said, “I am the living bread.”

A mother washes clothes, removing stains again and again.

Christ cleanses us—no matter how many times we fall.

A mother cleans messes no one else wants to touch.

Christ reaches into the broken, the rejected, the hurting—and makes them whole.

A mother comforts.

Christ promised, “I will not leave you comfortless.”

A mother finds what’s lost.

Christ said He came to seek and to save that which was lost.

A mother reminds you of what matters.

Christ, through the Spirit, does the same.

A mother believes in you—even when you don’t believe in yourself.

Christ never stops believing in what you can become.

The Deeper Truth We Often Miss

Here’s what’s easy to overlook:

Most of what a mother does…

goes unnoticed.

No applause.
No recognition.
No break from the responsibility.

And yet… she shows up again the next day.

That kind of love—steady, consistent, sacrificial—
isn’t just admirable.

It’s Christlike.

And whether you’ve had that influence in your life,
or you’ve been that influence for someone else…

that love matters more than you think.

It shapes lives.
It changes hearts.
It points people back to Christ.

Anchoring Quote

“God could not be everywhere, so he gave us mothers.”

Practical Reflection

Take a moment and think:

Who has been that kind of influence in your life?

Maybe it was your mother.
Maybe it was a grandmother, a teacher, a leader…

Or maybe… it’s you for someone else.

Have you ever stopped to recognize just how much those small, consistent acts of love actually matter?

Because what feels small to you…
might be everything to someone else.

Today’s Daily Challenge

Do one simple thing today:

Reach out.

  • Tell your mom you love her

  • Thank someone who has been that influence in your life

  • Or become that influence for someone else

And don’t overthink it.

Just act.

Because love like that isn’t meant to be saved for a holiday.

Closing

You don’t have to look far to find evidence of Christ’s love.

It’s in the small things.
The daily things.
The unseen things.

It’s in the quiet sacrifices…
the consistent care…
the love that never gives up.

And if you’ve ever experienced that kind of love…

you’ve already seen a glimpse of Him.
