The Power of Forgiveness
Forgiveness frees the heart.
After more than twenty years, Joseph finally stood face to face with the brothers who had betrayed him. They had thrown him into a pit and sold him into slavery, changing the course of his entire life.
Now Joseph was the governor of Egypt. He had the power to punish them.
Instead, Joseph did something remarkable—he forgave them.
“Be not grieved…for God did send me before you to preserve life.” (Genesis 45:5)
Joseph recognized that even the painful things in his life had become part of God’s greater plan.

Forgiveness Heals Us
Forgiveness doesn’t mean pretending that hurt never happened. It means choosing not to allow anger and resentment to control our hearts.
When we forgive, we free ourselves from the weight of bitterness and allow Christ’s healing power to work in our lives.
Reflection
Is there someone in your life you are struggling to forgive?
Forgiveness can be difficult, but it is one of the most Christlike things we can do.
“Heaven is filled with those who have this in common: they are forgiven and they forgive.”
— President Dieter F. Uchtdorf
