  • LEAVING THINGS BEHIND - Have a discussion about moving. Ask how many have ever had to move? What was hard about it? What things were the most important to take with you? What were the hardest things to leave behind? How would you have felt if you couldn’t take anything with you? Ask what are somethings that the Lord may ask us to leave behind or sacrifice for the gospel?

Cell Phones, Cars, Video Games etc. Of all the possessions Lehi and his family have what does the Lord want to make sure they take with them? Look at 1st Nephi Ch. 5:20-21 What does this teach about the value of scripture?

  • Favorite Book of Mormon Quotes and Promises - Hand out the packet of quotes about the Book of Mormon and give your students 5-6 minutes to read through as many of them as they can, starting anywhere they like. Ask them to look for promises and blessings that stick out to them. Have them share with the class or group which of the quotes has stuck out to them the most.

Write Your Own Introduction to the Book of Mormon - discuss what an introduction to a book is. Then give your family, or students 5 minutes to write their own introduction to the Book of Mormon and go around the room having each one share what they wrote as their own introduction.
