MASTER OR SERVANT?

Written By Josh Downs

Technology should be a tool—not a master.

This lesson helps teens learn how to recognize when technology is beginning to control them, understand what they are feeding with their attention, and develop the self-control to make healthier choices for themselves.

WHAT THIS LESSON TEACHES

• How to become the master rather than the servant of technology
• How what we repeatedly watch and consume shapes our thoughts and habits
• Why unhealthy technology habits are easier to change when we replace them with something better
• How Christ can help soften our hearts and strengthen our ability to change

HOW TO USE THIS LESSON

This is a great lesson for families, youth groups, or teaching moments involving phones, social media, gaming, screen time, habits, or self-control.

The goal is not simply to create more rules. It is to help young people learn how to recognize what technology is doing to them, make wise choices, and eventually govern themselves.
