The Lord Loves Effort

Exodus 1–6 Teen Devotional

What do you do when you try… and things don’t work?

Moses followed God’s command and went to Pharaoh—but instead of things getting better, they got worse.

Pharaoh increased the workload. The people suffered even more.

Moses went back to God and asked:

“Why is it that thou hast sent me?” (Exodus 5:22)

It didn’t seem like anything was working.

Progress Takes Time

Even though Moses was doing the right things, the results didn’t come immediately.

That’s something we all experience.

We pray—but don’t feel answers right away.
We try—but don’t see results.
We do what’s right—but life still feels hard.

But God reminded Moses:

“I have remembered my covenant.” (Exodus 6:5)

God hadn’t forgotten. He was working—just not on Moses’s timeline.

Reflection

Is there something in your life where you feel like your effort isn’t paying off?

The Lord sees your effort—even when results are slow.

“The Lord loves effort.” — President Russell M. Nelson
