Let God Win
The greatest victory is surrender.
Jacob wrestled through the night and declared, “I will not let thee go, except thou bless me” (Genesis 32:26). After that wrestle, his name was changed to Israel — meaning, among other things, “let God prevail.”
To let God prevail means to let Him win the battle inside you.
The Internal Wrestle
There is a war inside every person:
Natural man vs. disciple
Immediate vs. eternal
Comfort vs. covenant
Sometimes we hold onto what President Nelson has called “our will” — resisting change, resisting repentance, resisting surrender.
But peace comes when we stop fighting.
Lay It Down
President Russell M. Nelson taught:
“Are you willing to let God prevail in your life? Are you willing to let God be the most important influence in your life?” (General Conference, Oct. 2020).
Letting God prevail may mean:
Ending a harmful habit
Changing a friend group
Turning off something unclean
Forgiving someone
Choosing repentance
Surrender is not weakness. It is spiritual strength.
Reflection
What are you wrestling with right now?
What would change if you let God win that battle?
“The only true test of greatness… is how close a life can come to being like the Master, Jesus Christ.” — President Ezra Taft Benson
