Daily Bread Is Enough for Today
God often gives strength one day at a time.
A lot of stress comes from wanting tomorrow’s answers right now. You want to know how everything will work out. You want the full plan. You want peace about next week, next month, or even next year. But God often works differently than that.
In Exodus 16, the Lord gave the children of Israel manna from heaven, but only enough for the day. He said, “I will rain bread from heaven for you” (Exodus 16:4). They had to gather it daily and trust that more would come tomorrow. That was not just about food. It was about faith. God was teaching them to rely on Him one day at a time. That same lesson applies now. Sometimes God does not give you the full answer because He is teaching you daily trust. Sometimes He gives just enough strength for today, just enough peace for today, and just enough light for the next step. Jesus later taught, “Give us this day our daily bread.” He wants us to come to Him daily, not just once. He knows what you need, and He will help you in His way and timing.
Elder D. Todd Christofferson taught, “Jesus is teaching us, His disciples, that we should look to God each day for the bread—the help and sustenance—we require in that particular day.”
Reflection Question
What helps you remember that God’s help for today is enough, even when you do not have all the answers for tomorrow?
Today’s Challenge
Before you go to bed tonight, write down one way God gave you daily bread today—strength, peace, help, comfort, or direction.
You may not have every answer yet, but you do not need every answer to trust God. He will give you what you need for today. And tomorrow, He will still be there.
